Mimi Kirk is a contributing writer at the Atlantic’s CityLab, where she covers education, aging, and other topics. She has held editorial positions at magazines, think tanks, and universities, including Smithsonian, The Middle East Institute, and Georgetown University. She holds a B.A. from Haverford College, an M.A. in cultural studies from Emory University, and an M.A. in nonfiction writing from Johns Hopkins University. Her writing has appeared in the Washington Post, Foreign Policy, and the Wall Street Journal, among other publications. She lives in Washington, D.C. with her husband and young daughter.
