Heather Barrar

Principal Planner, Chesterfield County (2017 Summit)

Heather has lived and worked in Chesterfield County, Virginia for nearly 20 years serving at both the state and local level of government.  In her current role of Principal Planner for Chesterfield County, Heather serves as the subject matter expert on natural and historic resources as well as bicycle and pedestrian planning.  She holds a Bachelor of Science in Forestry and a Master of Interdisciplinary Studies focusing on Environmental Planning and Policy.  Heather is the Vice Chairman of the Friends of the Lower Appomattox River who recently completed a master plan for a 23 mile riverfront trail and serves on the advisory board of the Capital Region Land Conservancy. The favorite part of her job is developing relationships with the citizens of Chesterfield County and being involved in community events and celebrations, such as Chesterfield County’s recognition as an Active RVA Certified Workplace.
